Course overview
Insulin pump therapy is an intensive method of insulin delivery used for select patients with poorly controlled insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). In insulin pump therapy, rapid-acting insulin is infused continuously at a low level to provide a steady basal concentration of insulin, and delivered in boluses before meals or other times when additional insulin is required. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of how to administer insulin using an insulin pump. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
