Course overview

A volume-control set is an I.V. infusion set, which permits rate-controlled administration of the therapeutic amount of I.V. medication. Use of a volume-control set is indicated when administering intermittent I.V. medications and when precise dilution of the medication is a key concern. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the indications for, benefits of, complications associated with, and steps involved in delivering medication using a volume-control set. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
