Course overview
Breech delivery refers to a vaginal or cesarean birth in which the fetal buttocks enter the pelvis (i.e., birth canal) before the head. Early in the third trimester, the clinician may suggest maternal exercises (e.g., pelvic rocking in a knee-chest position, lying in a deep Trendelenburg position) to encourage spontaneous conversion. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of ECV of a fetus in breech position, the ECV procedure, and contraindications for ECV, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
