Course overview

Bulimia nervosa (BN), a psychiatric eating disorder, is characterized by recurrent episodes of binge eating (i.e., lack of control over eating that results in consuming abnormally large amounts of food in any 2-hour period) that are triggered by stress, intense hunger, and abnormal perceptions of body image and food. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of bulimia nervosa, its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the posttest and evaluation form.
