Course overview
One in 8 women develops breast cancer (BC). Late-stage diagnosis commonly results in more advanced disease (i.e., larger tumor size, increased metastasis), poorer prognosis, greater patient anxiety, and increased cost. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of a delay in BC diagnosis and treatment including related risk factors, demographic information, and outcome data, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
