Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace is a 2 hour continuing education course that fulfills the Florida Board of Nursing requirement under Rule 64B9 5.014 and Section 464.013(3), Florida Statutes. This course is required every other renewal cycle and is designed to help nurses identify and respond to impairment in clinical settings. Impairment can result from substance use, mental health conditions, or other factors that compromise a nurse's ability to practice safely. This course equips nurses with practical, statute backed knowledge to protect patients, support colleagues, and maintain professional integrity. Participants will learn to identify behavioral and clinical signs of impairment, understand employer assistance programs, comply with mandatory reporting laws under Section 464.018, F.S., and refer impaired practitioners to treatment programs under Section 456.076, F.S. By completing this training, nurses will gain the tools to act ethically, legally, and compassionately when impairment is suspected, strengthening workplace safety and fulfilling Florida's continuing education requirements.
