Course overview

Birth by cesarean section (C-section) is the surgical delivery of a fetus, placenta, and membranes through an incision in the abdominal wall and uterus. C-section has become a commonly performed surgical procedure in the U.S., with nearly one-third of live births delivered via C-section. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of maternal complications associated with C-section, including complications related to infection, bleeding, thromboembolic disease, and surgical injury. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
