Course overview

Preparation for a planned cesarean section (C-section) entails the systematic completion of pre-delivery interventions that are designed to prepare the mother for a surgical delivery. The primary focus of patient care is on patient teaching and the completion of tasks that promote the safety of the mother and fetus. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of how to prepare a patient for a planned C-section in order to better care for the patient. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
