Course overview
Most states in the United States recognize four forms of child abuse: physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological/emotional abuse, and neglect. Reporting child abuse involves notifying Child Protective Services (CPS) agencies and/or law enforcement officials of suspected or known abuse of a child. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the procedure for reporting child abuse when signs of abuse are detected in the healthcare setting, including the procedure for filing a report and the information that must be included in that report. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
