DELIRIUM IN ACUTE AND POST-ACUTE CARE

Course overview

Delirium is defined as a sudden deterioration in cognitive function and attention that develops over hours or days and typically fluctuates throughout the day. Delirium is categorized by its signs and symptoms and includes hyperactive delirium, hypoactive delirium, mixed delirium, and normal consciousness delirium. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of delirium in acute and post-acute care, including the categories of delirium, etiology, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
