COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME, TYPE 2

Course overview

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a symptom complex characterized by severe and chronic pain, nerve dysfunction, circulatory changes, temperature changes, and discoloration of an extremity following an injury or disease process. CRPS, type 2 (CRPS2; previously called causalgia) differs from CRPS, type 1 (previously called reflex sympathetic dystrophy [RSD]) in that it is preceded by identifiable nerve damage. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of CRPS2, including its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
