Course overview

Evidence-based nursing practice (EBNP) is the consistent clinical application of the strongest, most current evidence from well-designed studies and practice guidelines to improve patient care quality and patient outcomes. The EBNP process can be explained as a series of steps that carry clinicians from curiosity about a clinical issue through implementation of practice change to dissemination of information about the outcome of that change. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the implementation of EBNP in the clinical setting, including the role of the nurse manager in supporting the EBNP team and supporting the implementation of practice changes based on evidence. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
