Course overview
Conflict among nurse colleagues is virtually unavoidable as differences in personality, cultural beliefs, life and professional experiences, values, and other characteristics of individual nurses meet in the context of a stressful, emotionally challenging healthcare environment. The two main types of conflict nurses face with colleagues are horizontal violence and intergenerational conflict. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the management of conflict among nurses, with an emphasis on the role of the nurse manager. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
