Contact lens use is very popular, with millions of people in the United States wearing them regularly. While contact lens application and removal are typically performed as part of self-care, removal by a healthcare professional might be needed in cases in which the patient cannot remove the lens independently due to his/her health or mental status or if a problem with the lens precludes unassisted removal. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of contact lens removal. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
