Course overview

Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, a form of open heart surgery (OHS), is a myocardial revascularization procedure used in the treatment of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). CABG surgery consists of construction of new conduits for blood circulation that bypass clogged coronary arteries, allowing for improved blood flow and oxygen delivery to the heart muscle. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of CABG surgery, including a description of the procedure and indications for use, and to aid in caring for the patient undergoing this procedure. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
