GEMCITABINE (GEMZAR)

Course overview

Gemcitabine is U.S. FDA-approved as first-line therapy for pancreatic cancer (Stage II–IV); metastatic anthracycline-resistant breast cancer, in combination with PAClitaxel; Stage III–IV non-small cell lung cancer, in combination with CISplatin; and recurrent advanced ovarian cancer, in combination with CARBOplatin. It must be used cautiously in patients with preexisting hepatic or renal impairment. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of gemcitabine. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
