Course overview
Guided imagery (GI) is a therapeutic process that uses the power of the imagination to elicit a positive psychophysiological response to enhance healing and promote health and well-being. Through mindful and conscious imaging, GI draws from the senses to create relaxation and an altered state of consciousness. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the purpose and indications for GI, the science behind it, the psychophysiological response it elicits, and the steps required to initiate GI. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
