The purpose of obtaining informed consent is to verify that patients have been fully informed of diagnostic or treatment options and any associated risks. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of obtaining informed consent from or for an adult who may be mentally incompetent, including step-by-step process and benefits, to aid in caring for the patient with this procedure.
