Course overview
Congenital heart defects (CHDs), structural abnormalities of the heart that are present at birth account for the majority of cardiovascular problems in children; CHDs occur in an estimated 8 per 1,000 live births. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of surgery for CHD in children, including surgical procedures, complications, and risk factors for poor prognosis, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
