Course overview
Intravenous (I.V.) therapy-related complications—infiltration, extravasation, phlebitis, thrombosis, hematoma, embolism, allergic reaction, and localized or systemic infection—interrupt the delivery of prescribed therapies, cause the patient additional pain and distress, and/or potentially lead to life-threatening complications. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of I.V. therapy-related complications in order to better care for patients. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
