Course overview

Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS; also known as Eaton-Lambert syndrome) is a slowly progressive autoimmune disease characterized by abnormalities in neuromuscular transmission caused by a presynaptic neural defect that leads to abnormal release in acetylcholine (ACh, a major neurotransmitter). This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of LEMS, including its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for patients with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
