NON-HODGKIN LYMPHOMA IN CHILDREN

Course overview

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is cancer of the lymphatic system characterized by uncontrolled proliferation of lymphocytes (i.e., white blood cells [WBCs] that comprise much of the body’s immune system). Congenital or acquired genetic abnormalities transform B or T lymphocytes, or a combination of B and T lymphocytes, into the malignant cells characteristic of NHL that invade and compromise the function of various organs. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of NHL in children, including its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
