Course overview

Hemophilia (HPA) refers to a group of primarily hereditary bleeding disorders characterized by prolonged blood clotting time that results in prolonged bleeding or hemorrhage that can occur spontaneously or in response to trauma. Internal bleeding can occur as well as bleeding into the joints. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of relevant research on the general principles of caring for a patient with HPA including why this is important and information to provide to the patient and their family. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
