MULTIPLE ENDOCRINE NEOPLASIA SYNDROME TYPE 1 (MEN1)

Course overview

Multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 1 (MEN1; also known as multiple endocrine adenomatosis, type I, and Wermer's syndrome) is a hereditary syndrome caused by a mutation in the MEN1 tumor suppressor. MEN1 is characterized by the development of tumors, both malignant and benign, of the endocrine glands and associated tissues, including the parathyroid glands, pancreatic islet cells, and the pituitary gland. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of MEN1, its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment for patients with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
