MEIGE SYNDROME

Course overview

Meige syndrome (MS) is a neurologic disorder that consists of several focal dystonias (i.e., disorders that cause involuntary contractions of muscles, resulting in abnormal and/or unwanted repetitive movements or postures) and is characterized by muscle spasms of the face, especially the muscles around the eyes, mouth, and jaw; oropharynx; and larynx. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of MS, its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for patients with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
