Course overview
Psychological adjustment to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer varies by individual patient and stage of disease management. Although less than 10% of cancer patients are referred to a mental health clinician, research indicates that between 20 and 40% of cancer patients have a significant level of distress. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of relevant research on psychological adjustment to melanoma, including evidence-based information on risk, clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
