MELANOMA: DISEASE STAGING

Course overview

Classification of cutaneous (i.e., skin) melanoma is based on evidence that melanoma progresses in a consistent pattern. Disease staging for melanoma utilizes 5 distinct classifications (i.e., called stages 0–IV, in which stage 0 is significantly less threatening than stage IV) within which patients have similar malignant disease characteristics and survival rates. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of relevant research on melanoma disease staging, including evidence-based information on risk, clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
