MELANOMA: GENDER DIFFERENCES

Course overview

In addition to factors such as lesion thickness and the presence or absence of ulceration, gender is an important indicator of prognosis in melanoma. The latest analysis of data on worldwide cancer cases indicates that although melanoma occurs more frequently in women, more men than women die from melanoma. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of relevant research on GDIM, including evidence-based information on the most common sites and characteristics of melanoma for each gender to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
