PACLITAXEL (TAXOL)

Course overview

PACLitaxel is U.S. FDA-approved to treat AIDS-related Kaposi sarcoma (second-line), node-positive breast cancer (adjuvant), refractory or recurrent breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, and advanced ovarian cancer. It must be used with extreme caution in patients with hepatic impairment; it must be used cautiously in older patients, and in patients with preexisting peripheral neuropathies or serious cardiac conduction abnormalities. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of paclitaxel. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
