PARENT TEACHING: HOME CARE: ENTERAL NUTRITION IN CHILDREN

Course overview

Enteral feeding is the delivery of enteral nutrition (EN; also called tube feeding or nutrition support) through a tube, catheter, or stoma to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract (e.g., stomach, duodenum, or jejunum) in a patient who has a functioning GI tract but who is unable to meet his or her nutritional needs by oral ingestion or through the nasopharyngeal route. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of parent education about home EN in children, and to aid in caring for children who receive EN in the home setting. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
