Course overview
Anemia is not a disease but rather a clinical condition in which levels of Hgb and/or Hct are low or insufficient, which can cause the body to be inadequately oxygenated. Hgb and Hct counts in neonates vary widely depending on gestational age, chronological age, and health status. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of neonatal anemia, including its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
