Parent teaching about preventing accidental poisonings in children is the process of providing information to parents to improve their knowledge of common and dangerous poisons, strategies for keeping children safe from poisons, and what to do if accidental poisoning occurs. Poison prevention teaching should be an integral part of routine hospital and primary care of all children. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of parent teaching about preventing accidental poisoning in children. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
