PARENT/FAMILY TEACHING: LEUKEMIA IN CHILDREN

Course overview

Childhood leukemias are malignant disorders of the bone marrow and lymphatic system in which genetic abnormalities give rise to a proliferation of cells causing disruption of normal marrow function and, ultimately, resulting in marrow failure. Childhood leukemias are classified as acute or chronic and according to the affected cells. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the process for teaching parents and other family members about childhood leukemia, and to aid in caring for children with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
