Course overview
Excessive sun exposure in childhood results in sunburn (i.e., an acute inflammatory response of the skin due to excessive exposure to ultraviolet [UV] radiation) and places children at risk of developing melanoma later in life. The longer and more intense the exposure, the greater the risk of harmful effects to the skin. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the process for teaching parents/families about sun protection. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
