MELANOMA: THE ROLE OF IMMUNE RESPONSE

Course overview

Melanoma is a highly aggressive form of skin cancer that arises from malignant degeneration of melanocytes; a set of epidermal cells that synthesize dark melanin pigment. Melanoma is an immunogenic (i.e., capable of inducing an immune response) tumor. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the role of immune response in melanoma, including the use of immunotherapy in the treatment of melanoma, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
