Course overview
Melanoma is the second most common cancer of the vulva (i.e., female external genitalia); although vulvar melanoma accounts for 5–10% of vulvar cancers, it represents less than 1% of melanoma cases in women. The majority of melanoma cases are of the cutaneous (i.e., skin) type. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of relevant research on vulvar melanoma, including evidence-based information on risk, clinical presentation, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
