PARRY-ROMBERG SYNDROME

Course overview

Parry-Romberg (PR) syndrome, also known as progressive facial hemiatrophy (i.e., one-sided atrophy), is a progressive condition characterized by one-sided facial atrophy of the skin and subcutaneous tissue. PR syndrome can potentially involve atrophy of cartilage, connective, or ocular tissue; muscle and bone atrophy may be involved, and associated neurologic and ophthalmologic abnormalities may develop. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of PR syndrome, its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for patients with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
