Course overview

Kegel exercises, first introduced in 1948 by gynecologist Arnold Kegel, involve contracting and relaxing pelvic floor muscles to increase their strength. In men, the pelvic floor muscles form a sheet across the outlet of the pelvis which supports the abdominal contents, controls urinary and fecal continence, eliminates post-micturition dribble, and enhances penile erection and ejaculation. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of education for male patients about Kegel exercises, and to aid in caring for men who might benefit from Kegel exercises. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
