Bone marrow aspiration (BMA) is the removal of a small amount of bone marrow (i.e., soft tissue that helps form blood cells) from certain bones, such as the posterior or anterior iliac crests, the proximal tibia, the vertebrae, or the sternum. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the procedure for providing patient education on bone marrow aspiration. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
