Course overview
Hepatitis (i.e., inflammation of the liver) is generally caused by a viral infection; it can also be triggered by excessive alcohol use, toxins, and certain medications and medical conditions. While there are at least five distinct viruses responsible for causing hepatitis, the three most common types of hepatitis in the U.S. are hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner information about teaching patients about hepatitis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
