Course overview
Preconception counseling for the pregnant adolescent patient with diabetes mellitus, type 1 (DM1) should ideally begin at least 6 months before conception to optimize preconception glycemic control in the first trimester and prevent adverse fetal and maternal outcomes. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner information about teaching pregnant adolescent patients about DM1 in pregnancy, including key patient education points about this topic. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
