What you'll learn
Course overview
The 2026 Play Conference is a 13-hour self-study continuing education course that examines the role of play-based intervention in supporting foundational motor, sensory, and communication development in infants and young children. Content addresses the emerging "experience gap" and its impact on postural control, motor planning, mobility, regulation, and functional participation. Through case presentations, applied frameworks, and interdisciplinary perspectives from occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology, participants will learn evidence-informed strategies for integrating movement-rich play into therapeutic sessions and for coaching families to embed developmental opportunities within natural routines. This course is intended for pediatric physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists working in early intervention, school-based practice, or private practice. The material supports clinical decision-making related to motor development, participation, and team-based care.
