Course overview
The changing of patient gowns is a nursing intervention that requires replacement of a soiled gown with a clean gown. Patient gowns that are designed without snaps necessitate the manipulation of I.V. tubing and medication containers through the sleeves. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of changing gowns in patients with peripheral I.V.s, including expected outcomes, potential complications, and special considerations necessary for certain patient populations, which require extra care during gown change. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
