Course overview
Early detection and prompt treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) are essential to prevent the advancement of vision loss. Disease progression may be slow and asymptomatic or rapid, and the few treatments available are ineffective in later-stage AMD. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of evidence-based information on risk factors and prevention of AMD, including evidence-based information on risk, clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
