Explore the parameters of safe and appropriate opiate prescribing, delve into strategies to prevent drug diversion and misuse, and critically analyze the CDC guidelines and treatment options for substance use disorders. This advanced course will discuss state and federal laws and regulations for opiate prescribing as well as investigate appropriate treatment of chronic pain. This course is essential for registered nurses, physicians, pharmacists, and allied health professionals aiming to enhance their competency in managing opioids responsibly in their practices. Additionally, this course meets the mandatory educational content required for physicians in Utah, Michigan, Tennessee, and West Virginia ensuring compliance and up-to-date knowledge for safe opioid management in clinical practices. Michigan: Meets requirement for opioid and controlled substance awareness training. R 338.3135; Tennessee: Meets requirement for at least 2 hours of controlled substance prescribing.
