Course overview
Using a mood-altering drug over time creates fundamental changes to the brain that lead to compulsive and self-destructive behavior. This presentation will help the viewer understand substance abuse as a chronic brain disease rather than bad behavior and fully conceptualize the impact of alcohol and drug use on the brain and behavior. Dr. Brad Lander explores the physiology of how substance use becomes addiction and what this means in terms of establishing realistic time frames and expectations to support successful recovery based on neurological findings.
