PASTORAL CARE AND END-OF-LIFE

Course overview

Pastoral care (PC; also known as spiritual care) is performed by an ecumenical or nondenominational chaplain who has undergone master’s level preparation and a residency or internship. PC chaplains minister to people who are experiencing a period of distress (e.g., personal, social, physical, material, mental, spiritual, or moral distress). This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of relevant research regarding PC during the EOL to aid in caring for the patient requiring this type of care. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
