Course overview
Postoperative care is the nursing care provided after a patient has had surgery. The immediate postoperative recovery period is defined as the time the patient is transferred from the operating room (OR) to the time the patient is discharged from the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) to either the nursing unit or home. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the care of patients in the immediate postoperative period. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
