Course overview

Chronic renal failure (CRF) is a progressive and irreversible deterioration of kidney function that renders the kidneys unable to excrete waste products and maintain fluid and electrolyte balance. Anemia is a major and predictable complication of CRF in children, and it is usually the result of inadequate production of erythropoietin (EPO). This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of anemia as a complication of chronic renal failure in children. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
