PATIENT AND FAMILY EDUCATION: TEACHING THE PATIENT WITH DEPRESSION

Course overview

Education related to the patient with depression is the process of providing disease- and treatment-based information to the patient with depression and his/her family. The purpose is to improve their knowledge of depression, treatment options, and self-management skills, and to enhance their ability to cope. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of patient and family education for the patient with depression, including its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in teaching the patient and family with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
